AbstractThe conserved MAP3K12/Dual Leucine Zipper Kinase (DLK) plays versatile roles in neuronal development, axon injury and stress responses, and neurodegeneration, depending on cell-type and cellular contexts. Emerging evidence implicates abnormal DLK signaling in several neurodegenerative diseases. However, our understanding of the DLK-dependent gene network in the central nervous system remains limited.

In February, Jefferson County Health Department was awarded a Mini Injury Prevention Grant from the Core State Injury Prevention Program. Our first goal for this grant was to get one staff member trained as a Child Passenger Safety Technician. I am now certified and will begin offering car seat inspections soon.

“We did it!” chimes the student council members from Boulder Elementary School after they found out they had been awarded the Tobacco Use Prevention  grant. The student council has been very motivated in helping their peers to make better choices when it comes to vaping. Earlier this year the students researched and created anti-vaping presentations to deliver to third through eighth grade classes. Their campaign was very successful and stopped the trend of students vaping on campus.
