RANDOLPH — A four-vehicle wreck, involving a school minivan on a state highway, killed a preschool-aged child and three adults and hospitalized a second child. First responders were called to the Thursday crash on Route 10 at the intersection with Millbrook Avenue around 3:20 p.m.Among four vehicles involved was a school minivan registered to Alyft Transport, carrying students and employees of the P.G. Chambers school.

BARNEGAT — After hearing from concerned parents for nearly two hours, the Barnegat Board of Education voted to fire a teacher and four support staff caught up in an incident involving a special needs, non-verbal child being bound with painter's tape. Of the board’s nine members, all eight who attended a special meeting on Wednesday night voted swiftly to terminate the five staff members, as well as to reassign the administrator who had been in charge of special services.

A Bergen County day spa employee already accused of sexually assaulting a client is now facing more criminal charges involving a second victim, authorities said. Dequan Cedeno, of Teaneck, worked at the Hand and Stone Spa in Allendale before his arrest last month. On Saturday, March 15, Allendale police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit about an alleged sexual assault that day at the business.

A 26-year-old Camden County woman is charged with attempted murder after police said she hired a hitman to kill a Philadelphia police officer she dated, as well as his 19-year-old daughter. On Friday, Jaclyn Diiorio, of Runnemede, was arrested after flashing $500 cash to a person she thought she was giving a down payment to “off” her 57-year-old ex and his teen, police said.

A 58-year-old Camden County man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison, after admitting to sexually assaulting two children in South Jersey. Henry Papaleo, of Gloucester City, pleaded guilty in November to two second-degree counts of sexual assault of a child less than 13 years of age. He was sentenced in Superior Court in Burlington County on Friday.
