(WKBN) — Youngstown State University and the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center are receiving state grants to enhance career training opportunities. Thirty-nine universities, community colleges, and career technical centers across Ohio were awarded a combined total of $8.3 million through the latest round of Super RAPIDS grants. YSU received $30,822.75, and MCCTC was granted $126,354.90. The money will allow schools to upgrade their lab and classroom spaces with new, modern equipment.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — Valley Health Services in Warren is expanding its care through a new partnership. Community health care leaders met at the Warren-Trumbull County Library on Wednesday to discuss the partnership. AxessPointe, a Federally Qualified Health Center, merged with the company back in 2024 and is now offering primary medical care, dental services, and pharmacy, in addition to counseling. There are six new medical exam rooms and four dental operatories.

(WKBN) — A man who law enforcement officials say stole a police cruiser and crashed it on the turnpike has been identified. The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed one of their police cruisers was stolen last Friday evening on the turnpike. According to a release, at about 5:30 p.m., the OSHP Hiram Post was dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover crash near the Pennsylvania state line. Witnesses said the man walked away from the crash.

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — A new report on a chemical spill near Canfield High School last July shows that there are no elevated chemical levels. According to EPA spokesperson Lisa Cochran, the spill at Material Sciences Corp. contained cyanide and other metals. MSC is a metal finishing company that’s been around since 1955.

(WKBN) — UPMC has stopped gender-affirming care for individuals under 19. The decision comes after President Donald Trump threatened to cut funding for institutions that provide this care for LGBTQIA+ youth.
