The New York duo were a precursor to hyperpop and breathed rambunctious life into mainstream sounds during this period. And though follow-ups like Reign of Terror and Bitter Rivals didn’t quite reach the heights or cultural currency of their debut, Sleigh Bells amply demonstrated a commitment to blending contradictions.

Hiroshi Yoshimura’s Flora, initially crafted in 1987 yet hidden away until its limited release nearly two decades later, finally receives its rightful moment in the sun with Temporal Drift‘s careful reissue. It’s one of the wider releases of the Japanese ambient innovator’s works. Yoshimura, who died in 2003, had a career that spanned from the 1970s to the early 2000s, his soundscapes often drawing inspiration from nature and everyday life.
