It is owned by KQED Inc., which also operates another PBS station, KQEH (channel 54), and NPR station KQED-FM (88.5). All three stations are located in shared studios on Mariposa Street in the Mission District of San Francisco and broadcast from transmitter facilities on top of Sutro Tower.
