Speaking at the launch of the book at CineCentre at the Liberty Midlands Mall in Pietermaritzburg this week, Sewlal said he embarked on his journey to celebrate 100 years of radio in South Africa in 2022 with the idea of getting listeners to share their stories of radio.

    The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport is investing R353 million in rural areas of Umshwathi. Speaking at sod turning event at Makeni Sports Complex in ward three, the MEC for Transport and Human Settlement Siboniso Duma, said Emzansi Engineers had been appointed to repair the P278 road, a small part of which falls under Umvoti Local Municipality. The bulk of the road is in Umshwathi. Work is expected to get underway in June, with some 70 jobs being created as a result.

    The KZN Inland Matric Art Exhibition will open in the main gallery space at the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg at 6pm on Thursday, May 28. The guest speaker will be Tsholofelo Moche and the opening event includes a walkabout of the exhibition, which runs until July 27. This annual exhibition highlights art works created by students who studied art as part of their curriculum in Matric 2024, at schools in Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands.
