uMgungundlovu District Municipality (UDM) has been urged to host a disaster management summit to tackle the growing challenges posed by natural disasters in the district. Eduan Terblanche (53), who is accused of murdering his partner Stacey van Heerden (49) at a Mooi River hotel on May 28, was found dead inside a police van yesterday. According to The Witness, Terblanche was being transported from the Mooi River Magistrate’s Court to holding cells in Pietermaritzburg yesterday, shortly after his bail application was postponed. He was meant to return to court tomorrow for the continuation of his bail application.

Radio has always made Robin Sewlal feel he was part of a global village, where he could tap into information and entertainment from around the world. This love for radio is captured in a new book, My Radio Memory – Listening to the Listener, which he edited and released to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the launch of the medium in South Africa in 2023. Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban were the first three cities with stations to host broadcasts.

The 10th Annual Plennegy Golf Day teed off under crisp autumn skies at the Greytown Country Club, with a full field of 15 teams of four taking to the fairways for a fantastic day of friendly rivalry, fine swings, and the occasional fore-warned stray ball. Congratulations to the winning four-ball of B. Zuma, N. Khanyile, P. Mnculwane and B. Ngubane, who claimed top honours with an impressive 97 points.
