Starling and Bell’s big nights are not enough as Orange falls to Texas Tech. Ethan Canals-Fernandez Syracuse drops games on back-to-back nights, losing to Texas Tech on night two of the UKG Legends Classic, 79-74. It wasn’t enough in a game where the Orange cleaned up many of the previous night’s mistakes. The loss moves Syracuse to 3-2 on the season. Chris Bell and J.J. Starling led the Orange on the night, with Starling scoring 27 and Bell scoring 22.

For the second straight season, Syracuse women’s basketball graduate guard Dyaisha Fair was named a member of the preseason watch list for the 2024 Nancy Lieberman Award. The award recognizes the top point guards in women’s Division One basketball. Candidates must display strong leadership on the court, exemplary ball-handling and proficient play-making. The 5’5″ guard was dominant last year in her first season with the Orange, averaging 19.9 points, 4.2 assists and 2.4 steals per game.

What started as intermittent spurts of rain in the first half of the Syracuse men’s soccer match devolved into a full-on torrential downpour just after the start of the second, resulting in a no-contest. The Orange were held to a sloppy 0-0 showing at SU Soccer Stadium against the Siena College Saints on Tuesday night before the game was called off after only 56 minutes of play. In a ‘no contest’ ruling, all statistics and impact on record will be voided.

The 13-day annual event at the State Fairgrounds attracted more than 900,000 visitors. The Great New York State Fair’s annual celebration of all things Empire State wrapped on Monday. For 13 days at the New York State Fairgrounds, more than 920,000 fairgoers enjoyed classic foods and drinks, took in views of games and rides as they ventured through the midway and the 800-pound butter sculpture.
