On March 12, the election of former HR Director Paula Robinson to the position of FUHSD assistant superintendent triggered a domino effect of hires. Former HHS principal Greg Giglio took the newly-vacant position of HR Director, and was replaced by former Data and Assessment coordinator Denae Nurnberg, whose vacancy eventually led to former MVHS assistant principal Nico Flores taking the assistant principal position at HHS.

The Fremont Education Association (FEA), the union representing FUHSD teachers, approved a new salary schedule for teachers on March 29, outlining teachers’ salaries based on the number of years they’ve taught and the amount of professional development units they earned. The class of 2025 held the AP Study Session on Wednesday, April 24, in the student union from 3:05 to 5 p.m. In addition to snacks and drinks, event organizers provided food from Panda Express and pizza to students when their initial plan of Chipotle fell through. Physics teachers Michael Lordan and Jim Birdsong, along with Biology teacher Julie Choi and AP Environmental Science teacher Kenneth Gan, were present and helped students prepare for the AP exams.

MVHS hosted Career Day on Monday, April 1 in order to showcase potential career options for students. Students had three sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 10:25 a.m. to visit different rooms, where 44 guest speakers presented their career journeys and experiences. The speakers included researchers, engineers, small business owners, company executives and more.

On Friday, Feb. 10, Varsity Boys Soccer lost 2-1 to Homestead High School. HHS quickly secured a goal near the beginning of the game, but the Matadors responded with a goal of their own later in the first half, tying the score at 1-1. In the second half, HHS regained its lead by scoring another goal, closing out the game with a final score of 2-1. Assistant Coach Brandon Gessner finds that the end of the game was one of the most important moments for the team.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, Varsity Boys Basketball won 52-42 against Lynbrook High School on Tuesday. The game started with MVHS gaining a 10-point lead with a score of 17-7 in the first quarter. LHS started to catch up in the second quarter due in large part to the sizable number of fouls that MVHS committed, turning the score to 30-22 in favor of MVHS. However, MVHS started the fourth quarter with two-point shots, securing and maintaining its lead against LHS to the end of the game.
