A DUMFRIES man has decided to make a change for the allergy community within the region. Ross Murray, who has a severe peanut allergy himself, has launched a social media page called The Allergy Map, which is a space for allergy-safe living. The 31-year-old has a vision to grow a supportive community, launch a community-focused website, collaborate for change, and use technology to make life easier for people impacted by allergies.

It comes after the vehicle had been spotted on several occasions parked at Annan Tesco and Xtra Special car park. And now the man in question – Chris – has decided to tell his story. He says himself and his dogs have been checked by both the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) and police officers. The 72-year-old lives in the van – alongside ten grown up dogs and five puppies (who are in a connected trailer) – after he was evicted from his property last year.

Douglas – who had been out for nine months with an ACL injury during his spell with Annan – feared the worst but when he was told it was a cartilage issue he breathed a huge sigh of relief. And when a surgeon laid out his options – either to get it repaired and be out for several months or just taken out and out for two months – Douglas admits it was an easy decision.

A DUMFRIES taxi driver admits he has considered quitting his job after being subject to abuse from customers. The driver – who wished to remain anonymous – says he received personal verbal abuse from a couple of passengers which left him frightened. And he told the Dumfries Courier that he hoped by sharing his story that people could be more kinder. He said: “There’s been a couple of horrible experiences, it really made me think whether taking personal abuse is worth the job.

Library could re-open by end of month

REFURBISHMENT works to a Dumfries library should be completed by the end of the month. Ewart Library, in the heart of the town, has been undergoing works over the past couple of months. A council spokesman said: “The refurbishment works to the Ewart Library is progressing well with the works due to be completed by end of April. “The completion date is subject to the extent of the repairs required as part of the mosaic floor tile restoration in the lobby that is currently underway.
