    Emory University’s Office of Student Conduct (OSC) has placed the Student Government Association (SGA) and its subdivision, College Council, on an indefinite “pause,” citing conduct “potentially constituting discriminatory harassment,” according to an OSC notification. Director of Community Standards and Education Victor Lopez sent the notification to the official College Council email account on April 14.

    Some Emory University students who registered to vote in the upcoming election may need to re-register due to an address discrepancy, according to the Young Democrats of Emory. The online registration deadline is today at 11:59 p.m.The Young Democrats of Emory said in an Instagram post that “another organization on campus” misregistered students to vote by instructing them to list their mailing address as their residential address. They did not name the group.

    Mira Gurock (26B), former vice president of budgets for Emory University’s College Council, submitted a letter on Sept. 14 withdrawing her appeal against her recent termination, saying that while she’d hoped for due process, a public hearing was “not in the best interests of our campus community” or her wellbeing.

    Former College Council Vice President of Budgets Mira Gurock (26B) wrote to College Council legislators on Sept. 11 appealing College Council President Jannat Khan’s (25C) decision to fire her for leaking Emory Students for Justice in Palestine’s (ESJP) budget, which included an ESJP member’s name and plans to host a memorial on the Emory University Quadrangle on Oct. 7. The ESJP member, who asked to remain anonymous due to fear of retaliation, said that the leak creates privacy concerns.

    Several Emory University students and faculty are disappointed with the new Atlanta campus food trucks due to their “20 to 30 minute” long wait lines, increased prices and smaller portion sizes. Emory brought food trucks and “Swoop Eats” mobile vendors, which include old Cox Hall Food Court locations such as Twisted Taco and Raya, to Asbury Circle to replace Cox Hall’s food court while it undergoes renovations throughout the 2024-25 academic year.
