1 Background The region of Southeast Asia is a rapidly growing and developing part of the world. Geographically, it consists of 11 countries situated south of Mainland China, east of the Indian subcontinent and north of Australia. The 11 countries are (in alphabetical order) Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam.
