A recent decision of the Tribunal, affirming a licensing
decision under the Home Building Act 1989 (HB Act)
of the regulator to refuse an application to renew a qualified
supervisor certificate, reveals the keen focus of the regulator on
using its licensing powers to clean up the industry.
The applicant before the Tribunal was the director, secretary
and controlling mind of a company licensed under the HB Act and was
its nominated supervisor.

Planning changes begin today to deliver the homes NSW
needs
The first stage of the NSW Government's Transport
Oriented Development (TOD) planning reforms is being delivered
today, with the finalisation of the State Environmental Planning
Policy (SEPP). The new SEPP will amend planning controls around 37
well-located metro and rail stations, helping to deliver more homes

House prices continue to rise as number of landlords
increase
Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows
lending to investors – otherwise known as landlords –
has jumped almost 20 per cent in the past year. Almost four in 10
people taking out a mortgage now are landlords. Mr Lawless
suggested the increase in investors could potentially help to ease
