IntroductionIn the last decades, mounting evidence has pointed out ion channels as novel biomarkers in human cancers (Lastraioli et al., 2015). Among them, the human ether-á-go-go–related gene (hERG1) potassium channel exerts a key role, being expressed in many types of human cancers (Arcangeli et al., 1995; Arcangeli, 2005), where its activity regulates different cancer hallmarks (Arcangeli et al., 2009; Arcangeli et al., 2023).
