MANHATTAN BEACH, CA β Manhattan Beach residents and business owners will soon see higher water bills after the City Council voted this week to approve water rates. The council unanimously approved the change on Tuesday, setting the new rates at 0.38 cents per one hundred cubic feet or 748 gallons. That means residents could see their bi-monthly bills increase anywhere between $3.82 to $11.46, depending on water usage levels.

LONG BEACH, CA — A man has died from injuries he suffered when he was struck by a car while riding an electric scooter in North Long Beach last month, police said Friday. The man was riding the electric scooter through a marked crosswalk in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Artesia Boulevard the morning of April 29, when the 19-year-old driving a Honda Accord ran a red light and struck him, police said.

Levi, 18, was fatally struck by a driver near the area of First Street and Sepulveda Boulevard during the early hours of May 4, police said. "Braun was my best friend, he was everybody's best friend," his father, Daniel Levi, told NBCLA. "He had this other gear, this energy that filled the room and made everybody love him."Levi's family lost their homes in the Pacific Palisades fire and have been living in Hermosa Beach.
