Over the last few months, a trickling of reports have come out which show that Tulip Siddiq (MP for Hampstead and Highgate) who has been appointed to investigate corruption in the financial sector on behalf of the government, is in fact, entirely submerged in the corrupt financial and political dealings of her own family in Bangladesh. It would be embarrassing for Keir Starmer, if it wasn’t a perfect example of the vacuous cynical nature of the current Labour government.

Child sexual abuse, and the grooming gangs involved, have been dominating the news. Clearly, a catastrophic failure in safety for the victims has taken place. Abuse, assault, and rape are unfortunately a feature of life, across all races, particularly for women.

My last fortnight has been concentrated on political preparation for our anti–imperialist campaign. Part of this was an interview I had on Going Underground, where we discussed the Labour government’s pitiful suspension of only 30 arms licences to Israel. I made the point that this announcement has done nothing to quell the Palestine movement, which can see through all of Starmer’s smoke and mirrors. I also attended the national 100,000-strong Palestine march in London on 7 September.

These movements are more than your regular protests. They are the result of an entire generation of youth – particularly in countries hyper-exploited by imperialism – living through nothing but capitalist crisis; realising they have no future. And this same realisation is dawning on young people in Britain.
