    Records released by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) indicate that Department officials were presentat a calf assembly centre in Co Kerry on the same date that secret filming took place which exposed animal mistreatment. The RTÉ Investigates report exposed scenes in which staff at a calf assembly centre struck young calves in the face and head repeatedly, prodded calves with hay forks, dragged them by the ears and tails and force-fed milk to calves prior to export.

    The President of the Irish Creamery and Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA) has said the European Commission may need to "step in" after being shown footage of the condition hundreds Irish calves were left in after being exported across Romania and onwards to Israel. RTÉ Investigates traced their journey and witnessed the Irish calves exiting transport vehicles in Haifa Port in northern Israel. "Some of those animals are clearly not fit for transport.

    Undercover footage recorded in a major cattle export facility in Kerry has revealed Irish bull calves being repeatedly struck in the face, force-fed, jabbed with tools, and dragged by the ears and tail. It also shows how dead animals were piled into a mound and left to rot outside, which raises major disease-risk concerns, according to leading animal welfare expert Dr Simon Doherty of Queen's University Belfast. He described what he saw in the footage as cruelty.

    In the distance on a calm and quiet night we can hear the bombs drop, heavy bombs, far away, punctuating the night sky. The soft rhythmic cadence hides the reality of the havoc they are wreaking.     Thirty Irish soldiers have been trapped inside an outpost close to the Israel-Lebanon border for several days. RTÉ News has established that an Israel Defence Force platoon has been set up at the outpost and has been firing rounds at Hezbollah targets from there. A UNIFIL spokesperson has described the situation as "tense"; the outpost is adjacent to the border with Israel and is almost 8km from Camp Shamrock.
