The Cheesecake Factory, with its legendary multi-page menu of more than 250 items items and dozens of cheesecake flavors is opening next week in Naperville. The restaurant's newest location, at 428 S. State Route 59, will open Tuesday, June 17 as part of Block 59, a new dinning and shopping district in the western suburbs. According to the restaurant, the 8,700 square-foot space has hired more than 310 staff members for its new location.

Prime Healthcare, the private equity group that now owns all Ascension hospitals in Illinois, will cut approximately 100 jobs across its eight hospital sites and clinics in the Chicago area. The California based for-profit group confirmed the cuts in an email to NBC Chicago Wednesday, saying "staffing consolidations" began last week. They are expected to conclude next month.

A suburban substitute teacher has been charged with battery and child endangerment after reports from parents surfaced that she had chased, choked and hit a student and injured another inside a fourth-grade classroom another after becoming angry. The charges come one day after parents at a school board meeting for Country Club Hills District 160 pressed for answers from the school and police, who had provided few details about the events that transpired.

More details are coming to light after two college students at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Monday were found dead inside a student residence hall in a "targeted and isolated incident," leading school officials to cancel final exams for the remainder of the week. The incident took place around 4 p.m., when police were called to Wilgus Hall for a "disturbance," the school said in a Tuesday evening update.
