Raymond Muratalla can now call himself a world titleholder. Muratalla won the vacant interim IBF world lightweight title, defeating Zaur Abdullaev by unanimous decision on Saturday, May 10, at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego. Scores were 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110. The 28-year-old Muratalla, who improved to 23-0 with 17 knockouts, has been trained by Robert Garcia for most of his pro career.

Another knockout win for “El General.”Emiliano Vargas dropped Juan Leon twice en route to a second-round knockout win on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The 21-year-old Vargas improves to 14-0, with 12 knockouts, and won a regional junior welterweight title belt. Early in the second round, Vargas dropped Leon with a left-right combination to the head. Leon did beat the count, but was dropped again, this time by a right-left combination to the head.

Oleksandr Gvozdyk is back in the win column. The Camarillo resident and former WBC world light heavyweight titleholder dropped Anthony Hollaway twice en route to a knockout win in the third round on April 19 at the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside. Gvozdyk improved to 21-2 with 17 KOs.“(Oleksandr) had a very good performance,” said Marco Contreras, Gvozdyk’s trainer.

LAS VEGAS — Lindolfo Delgado wanted the smoke to prove his worth as an unbeaten contender. He almost got more than what he bargained for. Delgado overcame a rough patch late Saturday night, winning a majority decision over Elvis Rodriguez at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. One judge scored the bout 95-95, while the other two judges scored the bout 96-94 for Delgado, who improved to 23-0 with 16 knockouts.
