Neil McGee says that as familiar as Donegal are with Armagh, it’s now a very different Orchard test that stands in the reigning Ulster SFC title holders’ way on Saturday. It’s easy to forget at this stage but Kieran McGeeney survived a showing of hands at an Armagh county board meeting in August 2023 as the clubs decided he deserved one last shot at leading his county to success. Kildare native Brendan Cawley has been appointed to referee the Ulster SFC final between Donegal and Armagh this Saturday at St. Tiernach’s Park in Clones. The clash will be broadcast live on RTÉ and BBC with a 5.25pm throw-in, with extra-time and a winner on the day if needed. Cawley was in charge of last season's All-Ireland semi-final when Donegal were edged out by Galway at Croke Park.

An Clochan Liath ladies took a real scalp in Pearse Memorial Park on Bank Holiday Monday as they toppled Donegal Comórtas Peile heavyweights An Tearmann. The up-and-comers from Rosses Park had trailed at the break but back-to-back goals in the second period swung the pendulum in this one as An Clochan Liath grabbed the lead for the first time and managed to retain it through to full-time.
