The Mendocino Coast Mushroom Club will host its first Fungi Festival and Cultural Convergence on Saturday and Sunday, at the Caspar Community Center.

MENDOCINO CO., 11/14/24 –After being one of the first and last school districts in the country to be the internet service provider (ISP) for an entire community, the Mendocino Unified School District wants to sell. The district is taking its second look at selling the Mendocino Community Network, known as MCN. The city of Fort Bragg has offered to pay the district $500,000 over the next ten years to buy MCN and has promised to keep all services and employees.

Mendocino County 4th District Supervisor Dan Gjerde earlier this week announced his resignation from the county Board of Supervisors. His resignation goes into effect Friday. Gjerde said that the reason for his resignation is a new job, and on Tuesday he will start as a planner for Caltrans. Gjerde has served as 4th District Supervisor since 2013.

Incumbent Lindy Peters and businessman Scott Hockett are leading in a five-way race for two seats on the Fort Bragg City Council, according to unofficial election results Tuesday night. Peters is leading with 32.4% of the votes, followed by Hockett with 22.7% votes, with 28.5% of votes counted. For a City Council seat that pays $610 a month, the five candidates battled it out in an election campaign that featured more hugs than acrimony.
