    Euclid is asking the public for help in what their next year — and five years out — will look like when it comes to housing, new projects and what they want to see in their city. Funding for cities comes in many ways, from local taxes and fees to state grants and federal programs. In this case, every five years funding is released by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, otherwise known as HUD, to communities with the amount determined by what census tracts they are in.

    Even though gray skies hid the sun and gusts of wind kept everyone’s hands on their hats, Euclid welcomed the second year of its “Walk and Stroll” on East 185th Street. For 17 years Euclid’s Walk and Stroll was hosted on East 200th Street. For the past two years, it’s been on East 185th while East 200th gets a facelift in the form of new roadway surfaces and fire hydrants.

    Mayfield Heights has doubled down on booting out short-term rentals from their city by passing a modified ordinance which would criminalize anyone operating them with a penalty of up to six months in jail. Previously the city had a temporary moratorium which prohibited rentals like Airbnb and Vrbo that let homeowners rent out their houses on a “short-term” basis through their online service.
