    A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Crane’s Landing townhouses in Mentor-on-the-Lake was held recently at the corner of Andrews Road and Lakeshore Boulevard. Cranes Landing will have 30 townhomes, some of which are already built and ready for move in, while others will be under construction over the next few months. According to Adam Panasewicz, Ryan Homes vice president and division manager, the homes have sold in the upper $200,000 to lower $300,000 range.

    Fresh off appearing with Olivia Rodrigo at New York’s Governors Ball, former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne announced that his “Who Is the Sky Tour” on Sept. 19 will play Akron Civic Theatre. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member is supporting the album “Who Is the Sky?,” which is due out Sept. 5. It’s been quite a resurgence for Byrne, who recently watched his 2018 award-winning album, “American Utopia,” become a acclaimed Broadway show and Spike Lee-directed HBO concert film.

    The first Mentor Junior Police Academy held in 2024 was such a success the department decided to not only return this year but to offer two classes to accommodate all interested cadets. Officer Dan Radigan said the program is patterned after a junior academy run by a police department in New Jersey.
