Stellaris's recent 4.0 update, which launched alongside the (pretty unpopular) BioGenesis expansion on May 5, finally introduced the concept of babies. Their lack of inclusion previously made plenty of sense, of course. Babies are useless. Especially when it comes to giant space empires. But they are here now, which means a fun new bug has reared its head. The nascent stage trait is a negative trait that can be applied to humanoid, mammalian, reptilian and arthropoid species.

It was pretty obvious, right from the first dev diary published on February 24, 2024 that Paradox Tinto was working on Europa Universalis 5. The studio had been set up to maintain 2013's Europa Universalis 4, and was headed by EU director Johan Andersson. Everything it showed us from Project Caesar screamed Europa Universalis 5. And Andersson had been extremely eager to get started.

Paradox has finally unveiled the worst-kept secret in strategy gaming: Europa Universalis 5 is coming. I confess that I'd forgotten all about Mafia: The Old Country, the fourth game in the long-running series and the second developed by Hangar 13 (not including its remake of the OG Mafia). Indeed, the last time I'd thought about Hangar 13 was a few years ago, after it laid off a substantial amount of staff not long after it promised it wouldn't be doing that exact thing. Who can keep track of all these games? Oh right.
