    Coleman swept McBain 7-4 and 7-6 in nonconference softball on Wednesday to close out the regular season. Both games went six innings. Raegan McCoy got the win in game one, pitching 3 2/3 innings in relief and allowing one run on three hits and no walks. Addison Kenyon went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run batted in for the Comets, while Klaira Sysak also had two hits and an RBI. Elley Johnson and Isabelle Lewis both also drove in a run.

    The Great Lakes Loons thumped visiting Fort Wayne 10-1 on Wednesday to improve to 25-22. Roque Gutierrez earned the win in relief, pitching the final four innings and allowing one run on four hits and a walk, while striking out four. The Loons outhit the TinCaps 15-4. Midland shut out visiting Unionville-Sebewaing Area 6-0 in game one, then rallied to win the nightcap 11-4 and complete the sweep.     Midland High’s Eric Albright was waiting for the right opportunity to present itself, and now it has. Albright, 50, said Wednesday that he will retire from Midland Public Schools on June 30 following a lengthy and distinguished career as the Chemics’ athletic director, baseball coach, and assistant principal to undertake a new job in his native state of Minnesota.
