Midland Daily News

The Midland Daily News is a daily publication that caters to the residents of Midland County, Michigan. Its headquarters can be found at 124 South McDonald Street in the heart of downtown Midland. While the paper is based in Midland, it enjoys a broad readership throughout the county. Originally established in 1881 as the Midland Republican, it was rebranded to the Midland Daily News on May 1, 1937. The newspaper is part of the Hearst Corporation, a company that owns various other media outlets, including the San Francisco Chronicle and the Houston Chronicle. Hearst acquired the Midland Daily News in 1979. In addition to local news, the Daily News also publishes the school papers for both Midland High School, known as The Focus, and Herbert Henry Dow High School, titled The Update. Notably, it was the last daily newspaper in the Tri-Cities area when the Bay City Times and Saginaw News reduced their print schedules to three times a week in June 2009.
