The latest honor for Porsche's rear-engined masterpiece is the title of fastest manual transmission-equipped car to ever lap the 'Ring, an honor it won by more than 9.5 seconds. The manual GT3, which was equipped with the Weissach Package, lapped the track in six minutes and 56.294 seconds.

A class action lawsuit recently filed in California alleges that the odometers in Tesla vehicles are inaccurate. Since the brand uses warranties tied to mileage, these inaccuracies could lead cars to fall out of warranty sooner than they would with a typical odometer reading that would fall within an expected range of accuracy. For the past few years, the hoons over at Hoonigan have filmed drag racing comparison videos that illustrate the differences in performance between two cars in real time. Some of those videos were, unusually, off-road drag racing. That was ridiculous enough — but Hoonigan's new video series goes one step further, by putting cars in competition on a purpose-built rally course. The video series, called Rally Speedrun Championship, starts next Monday.

On Tuesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that its early estimates for traffic fatalities in 2024 have found that just 39,345 deaths occurred in the category last year. The estimate, which is based on an analysis of both monthly and regional traffic fatality data, suggests that 2024 was the least deadly year on American roads since 2020.
