SIAC appointed Vivekananda Neelakantan as its new registrar, taking over from Kevin Nash, in November 2024. One month later, SIAC’s updated arbitration rules were released. The revised rules went into effect as of 1 January 2025 and were developed following extensive public consultation with SIAC’s users and stakeholders, such as the SIAC Users Council, arbitration practitioners, arbitrators, business entities, government representatives and academics.

A division of the Singapore High Court, the SICC was established in 2015 in response to an increasing demand for effective international litigation in Singapore. The International Committee intended to be established under the new Bill will be a standalone body and will not be part of the Singapore judiciary.

The SIAC is in the process of finalising the 7th edition of the SIAC Rules (‘the Draft Rules’), which look to enhance the user experience and raise the bar on efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The year 2023 saw the SIAC expand its secretariat, appoint new board and court members with a focus on India, and restructure its Young SIAC (YSIAC) Committee to a global YSIAC Council comprising regional committees.
