IntroductionThe renewable portfolio standard (RPS) mandates that, within a country or region, electricity produced by power generation companies must contain a certain proportion of green electricity produced from renewable sources. If green electricity exceeds the stipulated quota, transactions are permitted among different types of generation companies.
