EU trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic and U.S. trade representative Jamieson Greer are meeting in Paris today to accelerate the pace of trade talks between the EU and Washington. Their discussion - which is being held on the sidelines of the OECD ministerial meeting - comes after US President Donald Trump said he would hit the European Union with 50% tariffs. President Trump has delayed these proposed tariffs until 9 July to allow the EU and Washington produce a deal.

Cybersecurity remains the top investment priority for Irish tech leaders who are facing increasing budget constraints, geopolitical tensions and continued technological change. Nearly half of those surveyed (48%) for the EY Tech Leaders Outlook said its the most critical area for improvement due to rising threats. The findings show that AI adoption continues to accelerate, with one in ten leaders now saying AI is fundamental to their business, jumping from just one in 50 (2%) in 2024.

Faster housing delivery could mitigate the impact of tariffs, according to the latest report from Davy. Updated forecasts from the Department of Finance show that economic growth will slow next year due to US tariffs. Davy believe that this presents a compelling rationale for the Government to use all available levers to accelerate housing and infrastructure delivery in the near term.

New software has been launched to track aviation emissions in real time. PACE Airports by Fexco aims to support airports deliver on their emissions reduction targets. This week the Financial Times reported that European airline emissions are on course to exceed pre-pandemic levels this year. This is despite a global commitment by the sector to reach net-zero by 2050 - through a mix of new technologies, alternative fuels and more efficient aircraft, engines and air traffic management.
