Spring was in the air Tuesday at Livingston Elementary, as the Cody Conservation District and Livingston second-graders put their green thumbs to work planting flowers. “Flowers are always a good thing,” said Olivia Bergeron, conservation program specialist at the Cody Conservation District. And, in this case, they were intended to help pollinators. Many of the planted flowers are native to Wyoming, as well as drought-resistent.

After spending their entire lives renting, two families will soon move into their new homes. “Habitat for Humanity is just so great at getting the community together to help families in need,” said Claudia Mickelson, Meeteetse Spanish teacher and soon-to-be owner of a new home. “If their efforts weren’t as good as they are, we wouldn’t have had this opportunity.”This will be the first home that Mickelson and her husband Ira will own. They are both teachers in Meeteetse and have three children.

Cody City Councilman Lee Ann Reiter has announced she will run for mayor this election season. Reiter is looking to continue being “a contributing presence in Cody and is committed to economic sustainability,” according to a press release. The longtime Cody resident said she is also plans to focus on growth while preserving the western heritage and values of Cody.

Cody Mayor Matt Hall has announced he will run for State Representative of House District 24 this November. While the seat Hall seeks is currently held by longtime Rep. Sandy Newsome, she will not run for re-election. She has represented HD 24 for six years. After serving three terms representing central and northwest Park County, Newsome has decided not to run again. “When I was elected in 2018, I thought six years would be the right amount of time to devote to the legislature,” she said.

It’s no secret that the Enterprise is struggling. Ever since the mass departure of employees last summer, it’s been a tough road forward. I’m not complaining. If I am anything, it’s a person who seeks a good challenge. My favorite problems are the ones that don’t have an answer — it’s why I enjoy philosophy. There is nothing like sinking months and years into trying to understand works on metaphysics, culture and mass communication. One of my favorite thinkers is a Frenchman named Jean Baudrillard.
