Cody Enterprise
The Cody (Wyo.) Enterprise is a newspaper that publishes twice a week. It was established in August 1899 by W.F. Buffalo Bill Cody and Col. John Peake and marked its 100th anniversary in 1999. This esteemed publication has received various awards and currently has a paid circulation of 7,050. The newspaper is owned by Sage Publishing Co., which is based in Cody, Wyoming.

Winning two games in the back half of a home weekend series with Rapid City at Simpson Field, the Cody Cubs snapped a three-game losing streak. The legion baseball team from Rapid City Post 22 came to town for a four-game series on May 23-24. The first two games on Saturday were close, but the Cubs lost 7-6 and 3-1. Back came the Cubs with rallies on Sunday to get the split of the series. The Cubs won by scores of 5-4 and 10-9 in the Sunday matinee.

Defense was the difference for the Cody girls soccer team with a pair of shutouts and only one goal allowed last weekend on the run to the Class 3A state championship. The Cody girls started off the state tourney with an 8-0 win over Buffalo last Thursday in Gillette. Then the revenge tour started for the Cody Fillies. Last year, they lost to Lander in the title game, but this time they beat them 2-1 in the semifinals.

It came down to a shoot-out for the Class 3A boys state soccer title and the game was a close battle right to the end, but the Cody Broncs came up short against Buffalo. The Cody boys got off to fast start in the state tourney with an 8-1 win over Rawlins in the first round last Thursday. Cody continued its run to the finals with a 1-0 win over Torrington in the semifinals. Seeking back-to-back state titles, the Broncs did battle with the Buffalo Bison in the championship game.

Standout individual performances in numerous events led the Cody boys and girls to runner-up team finishes at the Class 3A State Track and Field Meet. Kyler Stinson and Boston Cronebaugh were all-state in four events. Stinson won the state title in the 100, 200 and 400 meters. He was also on the state winning relay team. Lovell won the boys title and the Cody Broncs were second with 110 points for the meet. Lander won the girls championship and Cody was the runner-up.
