Cody Enterprise
The Cody (Wyo.) Enterprise is a newspaper that publishes twice a week. It was established in August 1899 by W.F. Buffalo Bill Cody and Col. John Peake and marked its 100th anniversary in 1999. This esteemed publication has received various awards and currently has a paid circulation of 7,050. The newspaper is owned by Sage Publishing Co., which is based in Cody, Wyoming.

Several members of the Cody High track and field teams were named to the All-State team for their efforts this past spring. These honors go to the top two finishers in individual events or were part of a winning relay at last month’s Class 3A State Meet. These honors were not voted on and the selections come from the Wyoming Coaches Association. Four boys and two girls from Cody were named to the All-State team. The Broncs and Fillies had another solid season out in the field and on the track.

Late rallies by the Riverton Raiders gave them a sweep of Tuesday night’s conference doubleheader against the Cody Cubs. In the opener, the home team produced a big rally in the bottom of the fourth inning and came away with a 4-2 win. The late game was a high scoring affair with late rallies giving the Raiders an 11-5 win. The pair of losses dropped the Cubs to a 5-3 record in the conference play. The Cubs have a conference doubleheader left with Evanston late in the season.

Riding on a scenic 100-mile course through the Black Hills of South Dakota, members of the Park County Youth Cycling club recently competed in a race starting in Spearfish. The mountain bike riders from PCYC took part in the Pine Island Gravel Odyssey Race on June 14. The race, which takes place in the Black Hills, features varying terrain. “It consists mostly of gravel roads, but also includes a bit of pavement while riders roll over open prairies,” according to the race’s website.

Rain washed away a pair of scheduled of games over the weekend for the Cody Cubs at the Harold Gjerde Memorial Tournament in Lewistown, Mont. The scheduled games on Friday and Sunday were both rained out. The Cubs did play a total of three games and went 1-2 on the weekend. “It was a tough weekend, everything was delayed and postponed,” Cubs manager Beau White said of the tournament. In the opener of the tourney, the Cubs played a close game against the Glendive Blue Devils on Thursday.

Former Cody Broncs football players put on a good show for the fans at last weekend’s Shrine Bowl game in Casper. Grady McCarten, who helped the Broncs make it to the state finals this past season, had a long touchdown run to help the North beat the South 34-28 last Saturday afternoon at Cheney Field. Early in the second quarter, McCarten broke loose for a 47-yard touchdown gallop.
