Former Georgia Southern defensive tackle Troy Pikes and former Sam Houston State offensive tackle Orion Irving have scheduled visits to Columbus on Friday, per multiple outlets. While Pikes plays defensive tackle, the Buckeyes’ greatest position of need this transfer portal cycle, it’s not a guarantee he’d be an upgrade over any of Ohio State’s depth options at the position, but at the very least he’d provide competent additional depth.

It’s since been confirmed Larry Johnson has been in contact with one of those aforementioned four, former North Carolina defensive end Beau Atkinson. Per multiple reports, Atkinson is expected to visit Ohio State Monday and will also likely visit Georgia.

Ohio State had a successful spring on the recruiting trail. From the time spring practice began until it ended, the Buckeyes' 2026 recruiting class more than doubled in size, going from five commitments in early March to 11 commits in mid-April. While there was substantial progress made toward building another top-five recruiting class within the past few weeks, there's still plenty more work to be done on the recruiting trail over the next couple of months.

The spring transfer portal window has officially opened. For the next 10 days, all players nationwide will have an opportunity to test the waters of what’s essentially college football free agency, with more than 600 players nationwide opting to transfer so far as this writing. Ohio State is expected to be active in the portal market to a degree, particularly for defensive line help.

4/16/25 at 11:32a in the OSU Football Forum Ohio State has its first spring portal entry. Per 247Sports, punter Anthony Venneri has entered the transfer portal. Venneri, who was not on scholarship at OSU, was slated to be the third-string punter behind Joe McGuire and Nick McLarty. Venneri transferred to OSU from Buffalo last season as a walk-on. He did not appear in any of OSU's 16 contests. He'll have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Former OSU offensive line coach Greg Studrawa was named the newest head coach of IMG Academy on Monday, his first coaching stateside job since being let go by the Buckeyes after the 2021 season. Studrawa most recently was the offensive coordinator for the Cologne Centurions in the Europe League of Football.
