The Commercial Dispatch serves as the daily newspaper for Columbus, Mississippi, USA. It emerged in the early 1900s from the combination of two earlier publications, the Commercial and the Dispatch. The first edition of this unified newspaper hit the stands on March 12, 1922. It is published six days a week, with no issue released on Mondays, using a Goss Urbanite press at its headquarters. This newspaper has been a longstanding, family-run enterprise and a vital part of the community. The present editor and publisher is Birney Imes III.

Ellis leaving CMSD superintendent role for job in Delta

Stanley Ellis will be leaving his position as superintendent of Columbus Municipal School District at the end of this school year. During a roughly 90-minute executive session on Monday, Ellis told the board of trustees he would be resigning to take a new position as interim superintendent for the Humphreys County School District. The State Board of Education on Thursday approved Ellis’ new contract with HCSD, clearing the way for him to begin the new role in July.
