Its name was the best thing about the whole idea. Seeing it splashed above a movie title could conjure up thoughts of class and prestige in the minds of sophisticated cinemagoers. For those on the outside looking in, the exclusive club was a creative and collaborative paradise. What auteur in their right might wouldn’t have wanted fistfuls of cash and creative control? That was the theme of the day, after all, and this was seventies filmmaking at its purest.
