    Registration is now open for the Town of Cutler Bay’s 2025 Summer Camp program. Space is limited and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Summer camp runs from June 9 through Aug. 1. Camp will take place at Cutler Ridge Park and activities will include arts and crafts, swim days in the park pool, indoor activities, outdoor games, weekly field trips and more. The cost per session is $200 per child and $180 per additional sibling.

    The Town of Cutler Bay’s popular annual event, the Easter Eggstravaganza, will take place at a new location for the first time — Lakes by the Bay Park — to make it bigger and better. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Apr. 19. Town Events and Programs manager Maria Herrera‑Mendoza said she was looking forward to the change. “This year we are doing something new by moving the event to Lakes by the Bay Park,” said Herrera‑Mendoza.

    The Village of Palmetto Bay is repeating a popular annual event this year, but with an added twist that dog owners will appreciate. The Trees & Treats: Tree Giveaway Drive-Through will take place on Saturday, Apr. 19, from 9 to 11 a.m.Palmetto Bay residents can register to receive a free tree while supplies last, according to event organizers. Plus pick up your tree with your village pup and they’ll get a treat. Those interested in getting free trees are urged to register by Monday, Apr. 14.

    The Town of Cutler Bay hosted its eighth annual Wings Over the Bay chicken wings cook-off on Mar. 8 featuring local restaurants and amateur competitors showcasing their best buffalo, grilled, and parmesan wings in a judged competition. In addition to the judged categories, attendees participated by selecting the People’s Choice Best Wing winner.

    Dr. Edward L. Whigham Elementary School robotics program won a Regional Championship Innovate Award on Sunday, Mar. 15, which earned the students a spot in the World Championship in Dallas, TX. One of the school’s two teams was invited. Kimberly A. Clifford, teacher of gifted students in fourth and fifth grade, who also served as a coach for the teams, was pleased with their success. “I work with each of these students in the classroom for their core curriculum in math and science,” Clifford said.
