The accident involving the Synergy-managed 9,962-teu vessel (built 2015) became one of the most infamous maritime disasters in living memory. Norway is set to import its first barrels of Libya’s Es Sider crude in 11 years. The cargo will be lifted by Greek owner Enesel’s 157,000-dwt suezmax Kanaris 21 (built 2021). The tanker is scheduled to load on 9 June and discharge at the Mongstad terminal on 23 June, based on fixture data cited by consultancy Kpler.

Greek owner Almi Marine Management is developing a new dual-fuel bulker that claims to solve the problem of storing enough hydrogen on board for deep-sea operations. The company has won approval in principle from Italian classification society Rina for an ultramax based on the 64,000-dwt Green Dolphin design from China's Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI). The ship, which will also run on LNG, will feature hybrid propulsion and advanced energy efficiency technologies.
