James Beveridge, 70, played the part of Good Samaritan by taking the woman back home after she had wandered off in the local area. However, the long-time friend of the family then exploited her vulnerability by sexually assaulting her in her living room. He was unaware the woman’s daughter had recently installed cameras to keep on an eye on her mum.

A Rosyth dockyard worker stole parts intended for the HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier. The theft of metal and valves took place over a period of almost four months and earned Jamie Aird more than £6000 from a scrap dealer. Aird, 29, of Forest Place, Townhill, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court. He admitted that between December 1 2022 and March 20 2023 at Building 317, Babcock International, Rosyth Dockyard, he stole metal and hull valves.

A drug-dealer from Dundee was found slumped and covered in vomit in his car in Glenrothes. Darren Leadingham, 20, committed a catalogue of crimes, including driving when banned and drug-driving, during a visit to Fife. Leadingham, of Fleming Gardens East, appeared for sentencing at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court. He admitted that on May 4 at Queensway, Glenrothes, he drove when unfit to do so through drink or drugs and when disqualified.

A 74-year-old pensioner on a dog walk sexually assaulted a woman in the early hours of the morning. The victim was returning from a night out when she was groped by a complete stranger, John Gray, who asked her “Do you fancy me?”The woman was on the phone to her mum at the time and ran home in a distressed state. Gray, of Winding Wheel Way, Cardenden, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing.

He said he was lonely and asked to be let into her home, unaware her boyfriend was already inside. Muhammad, of Dundonnell Way, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing.

A clubber who stared at a woman for five minutes before sexually assaulting her on a Dunfermline dancefloor, has been jailed for a year. The 51-year-old woman was grabbed and squeezed by complete stranger, Catalin Fekete, 33,of Izatt Avenue, Dunfermline. He was found guilty after a trial and appeared back in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court with a Romanian translator for sentencing.
