A Fife man blindfolded an eight-year-old girl for a “tasting game” which turned into a sexual assault. James Ross pretended it would be harmless fun with the girl trying to name household items without seeing them. He took her to a bedroom, turned off the lights, put a blindfold on her and played a sick guessing game called “touch it and taste it”. During the game, Ross took out his penis claiming it was a banana.

A serial crook was jailed after being arrested for multiple raids on professional golf clubs and shops across central Scotland, including in Perth and Kinross. Eric Dowds, 62, pled guilty to stealing nearly £42,000 worth of golf clubs, equipment, and clothing by breaking into clubs and pro shops.

A court heard how Raith Rovers legend Peter Hetherston was caught up in a pub attack probe after a man was punched unconscious. Hetherston, 60, ended up being charged with attempted murder along with his trained boxer brother Martin Hetherston, 57, and 31 year-old Lauren McGowan. The trio had been due to stand trial in Glasgow last week but the ex-footballer and Miss McGowan walked free after prosecutor Liam Ewing KC accepted their not guilty pleas.

A “depraved” pervert from Fife, who committed a sexual assault on an 80-year-old woman suffering from dementia, has avoided a jail sentence. James Beveridge, 70, played the part of Good Samaritan by taking the woman back home after she had wandered off in the local area. However, the long-time friend of the family then exploited her vulnerability by sexually assaulting her in her living room. He was unaware the woman’s daughter had recently installed cameras to keep on an eye on her mum.

A serial criminal who murdered a Dundee taxi driver was jailed for life and ordered to serve at least 16 years in prison after his second prosecution for the attack. Steven Greig, 47, pushed taxi driver Mark Ward down a grassy slope and then repeatedly kicked and stamped on the defenceless victim’s head on April 6 2022, before abandoning him to his fate.
