Kevin Devine downed drinks at an Italian airport and on board a flight to Edinburgh, before acting aggressively towards air stewards. The oil and gas worker shouted and swore, refused to fasten his seatbelt when requested to and made a telephone call during the flight from Catania, Sicily to Edinburgh Airport.

An illegal immigrant caught working in a £6.5 million cannabis factory in a former shop on Kirkcaldy High Street has been jailed for three years and three months. Petrit Gjuraj, 24, paid £20,000 to come from Albania to work in a large-scale drugs cultivation in the old WH Smith shop at 183-187 High Street. Officers who searched the three-storey building, after trapping Gjuraj on the roof, found 1,330 cannabis plants, which were being grown on every floor.

A 73-year-old Fife charity shop volunteer cornered a teenage schoolboy and demanded to know the size of his penis in a sordid sex chat. William Fraser spoke about his own “tiny” penis and interrogated the shocked 14-year-old about his sex life. Fraser, from Lauder Street, Dunfermline, had a previous sexual offence on his record when he was working at the shop. However, a sheriff said there was nothing sinister in Fraser’s actions and put it down to “stupidity”.

A pizza chef who smoked cannabis with a missing 12 year-old girl before raping her in Fife has been jailed for five years. Erick Fragnito exploited the youngster at his then-home in Burntisland in June 2023. The 27-year-old later claimed he thought the child was older than she was. Fragnito appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday and admitted charges of sexual assault and rape. Lord Mulholland cut the term from six years due to the guilty plea.

A Fife teenager has been fined £1,200 after admitting assaulting two people at a club in Shetland. Lerwick Sheriff Court heard how Jay Fotheringham, from Lochore, repeatedly tried to regain entry to Trench on the town’s Commercial Road after being told to leave. The 18-year-old appeared at court on Thursday to admit assaulting two people at the club on December 1 last year, while already on bail. He seized hold of a man and struggled with him, throwing punches and aiming kicks.
