Easter Sunday is the traditional start to the spring season, but we're getting a late start this year. Easter's date is based on the lunar calendar, and it falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox,. The holiday can fall any day between March 22 and April 25. By the luck of the draw (or the movement of the stars), we've got a late one this year, the same date we had in 2014 and the same one we'll have again in 2087.

M. Jack Luedke/Florida Times-UnionGermaine King, 24, a resident of the Ambassador Hotel at 420 Julia St., received an eviction notice in January 1998. Eviction notices were sent in advance of planned renovations.

Barley & Pie Brewing Company on Fleming Island announced its closure after just nine months in business. Owners Philip and Kara Maple cited rising costs, aggressive pricing from larger competitors, and a difficult landlord as reasons for the closure. Other recent closures include longtime favorites like Ragtime Tavern and A1A Ale Works. It’s been a rough couple of years for Jacksonville’s craft brewers.

The Bearded Pig's Jacksonville Beach location, open since 2021, will permanently close on April 6th. Owners cited post-pandemic challenges, including high construction costs and staffing shortages, as reasons for the closure. The original San Marco location of The Bearded Pig remains open. The Bearded Pig is known for its Texas and Carolina-influenced barbecue, Southern sides, and a family-friendly atmosphere.
