Ben Howarth highlighted the difference a year makes as Blackpool CC prepare for another league and cup double-header. Howarth’s players face week four of the Northern Premier Cricket League’s 40 Over Cup on Saturday before another ECB National Club Championship tie 24 hours later. Clubs have enjoyed perfect early-season conditions, far removed from the wet weather which saw a delay to last season. “It feels like a completely different world,” Howarth said.

Nine players will be leaving AFC Fylde this summer after the club published details of its retained list for the 2025/26 season. The Coasters will be back in National League North next season following their relegation from non-league’s top flight. Club chairman David Haythornthwaite had promised an overhaul on and off the pitch as they look to bounce back at the first time of asking.

David Haythornthwaite has promised ‘a complete overhaul’ of AFC Fylde’s backroom staff and playing squad as the club prepares for life back in National League North. A run of nine losses in 11 had seen the Coasters relegated from non-league’s top flight prior to Monday’s season-ending defeat against champions Barnet at Mill Farm. Before that match, it was announced that interim boss David Longwell and Frankie McAvoy would be departing the coaching team.

AFC Fylde have confirmed that David Longwell and Frankie McAvoy will leave the club following today’s final game of the season against Barnet. Longwell joined the Coasters in late January, taking the role of assistant head coach to Kevin Phillips. He then became interim boss for the rest of the season following Phillips’ departure in mid-February, with McAvoy added to the coaching staff in March.
