    December 11, 2024 I celebrate Christmas, and I love it. But, Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday (a take I understand is unpopular), but I always enjoyed the atmosphere of Christmas, especially in the weeks and days leading to it. I used to think Christmas and Thanksgiving should never cross paths. Thanksgiving is the time of yellows and oranges, turkey, and family. Christmas is the time of greens and reds, coats and scarves, and music of old. This year, I had a change of heart, however.

    The Glassboro Council held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10 where they discussed the retirement of two Glassboro employees. Firstly, the mayor and council acknowledged and congratulated Emmanuel Brooks, who retired from the Glassboro Highway Department after over 30 years of service. “Hard-working, dedicated, and dependable are all terms that are used when describing your work ethic,” Glassboro Mayor John Wallace III said.

    Last Monday, Dec. 2,  students may have noticed a sudden change in the popular breakfast cafe, Dawn to Dusk while walking down Rowan Boulevard, as it transitioned to Spicy’s Bar. While the abrupt change in the name and hours may have shocked students, the decision was not impulsive. Owners Cindy and Nick Minhas bought the popular breakfast spot back in January, and have been working behind the scenes to obtain a liquor license and make the change.

    Categories: December 4, 2024 In the most recent step of Gourmet Dining’s journey to become more sustainable, it has gotten rid of most single-use plastics in Rowan’s dining halls. The transition started at the end of the spring semester, phasing out the single-use utensils, napkins, etc. to bring in the new products. Some of the new products include Eco Products’ Plantware line of cutlery, which is made of polylactic acid (PLA) plastics.

    December 4, 2024 It is kind of difficult to be sustainable, especially as a student. The amount of times I see people who homestead, or have magnificent systems to bring awareness to the environment and how we can stop abusing it, I get a sense of inspiration and wonder, “I can do that too!”And then I try. I make a conscious effort to recycle, cook, and eat more sustainably, but then it becomes too much. What can I recycle, and given I’m at school, in which town can I recycle what?
