Neighbours of a woman who was violently kidnapped from her home in Sydney's south-west say they heard "blood-curdling" screams coming from the property at the time. Armed intruders stormed the 45-year-old woman's Edward Street, Bankstown residence about 10.30pm on Thursday as she was at home with her two sons. An eight-year-old boy was bashed around the head with a baseball bat, while his mother was seriously assaulted by the male intruders who also produced a firearm.

A woman has been charged with multiple offences including torture and grievous bodily harm in a horrific alleged child abuse case. The 32-year-old was charged by Detectives from Logan Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) following a major investigation. The high-risk missing person investigation called Operation Xray Cinder was sparked after police received a tip-off regarding a four-year-old girl suffering significant injuries.
