    A project to replace the northbound and southbound bridges at Refugio Road along US 101 near Refugio State Beach continues with the demolition of the existing southbound bridge starting Tuesday, Jan. 28. The southbound bridge demolition will result in the closure of Refugio Road below the existing bridges until Friday, Jan. 31. Demolition work will take place during daytime and nighttime hours.

    Caltrans will begin a resurfacing project on the southbound lanes of Highway 1 south of Vandenberg Village on Monday, Jan. 27, weather permitting. The project will include the application of a High Friction Surface Treatment to the existing pavement, which will address a recent increase in wet weather traffic incidents. Travelers can expect alternating lane closures, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27 through Thursday, Jan. 30.

    A one-mile segment of southbound US 101 between the Highway 1/US 101 interchange and the Gaviota Rest Area will be reduced to one lane beginning Thursday, Jan. 9. The closure of the No. 2 (right) southbound lane will allow Caltrans to complete bridge improvement work, guardrail upgrades, and slope and drainage repairs. The lane closure is expected to be in place until spring. The northbound and southbound Gaviota Rest Areas will remain open during the closure.
