KSBY-TV first went live in May 1953. Currently, it serves as the NBC, CW, and LAFF affiliate for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties, located along California's stunning Central Coast. Initially, the station was known as KVEC-TV, with the VEC in its name representing Valley Electric Company. KVEC-TV holds the distinction of being the first local television station established in the Central Coast area. At its launch, the station broadcasted shows from all three major television networks: NBC, CBS, and ABC.

    A car went off the side of Highway 1 one mile west of Highway 101 in Santa Barbara County and started a fire, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. It happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. Officials say the fire burned about ¼ acre before crews knocked it down. Firefighters reportedly found the vehicle unoccupied about 50 feet off the roadway in steep terrain and thick brush.
