Saturday was sizzling here in Las Vegas as temps soared to 11 degrees above normal with a high of 105 degrees, helping us break a daily record. The Extreme Heat Warning issued for Clark County and southern Nye County expires tonight at 11pm as we start to see a shift in conditions. A low pressure pattern will then develop over the next few days bringing some shots at rain for the region along with isolated t-storms.

A significant ridge of high pressure is about to take hold of the region and we'll find ourselves in triple-digit territory in Las Vegas. Tuesday we will see 97 in Las Vegas which is on par with the heat we had Monday. However, there is less of a breeze to help keep you cool. Sustained winds will stay under 10mph with the occasional gust up to 20mph. Through the work week, we'll see temperatures climb into the low triple digits.

As we observe this Memorial Day, we're going to quickly warm up into the 90s by mid-day reaching a high temp of 98 degrees in Las Vegas. If you're heading to Lake Mead, that high temp will be 103 degrees. Keep this in mind, as breezes developing from the southwest might trick you into thinking it's not as hot. Drink plenty of water, take breaks from the sun, and stay hydrated. Wind picks up regionally in the afternoon hours with sustained wind speeds around 15mph and gusts possible up to 25mph.

Temperatures will continue to climb in Southern Nevada as we roll into Memorial Day with building high pressure in the region. Highs will hit the upper 90s in Las Vegas and around Clark County and the low 100s at some of the recreation hotspots to observe the holiday like Lake Mead. Keep in mind heat safety tips like sunscreen every 2 hours, hydration and sports drinks, limiting drinking, and seeking shade when possible. In addition to the warmth, winds will move into focus in the afternoon hours.

Who else is enjoying this warm and breezy weather? Temperatures reached the low 90s in Las Vegas Saturday, which is about average for this time of year. Northwesterly winds have continued with the help of a weak trough of low-pressure sweeping through Nevada. Wind speeds will drop below 10mph overnight and remain calm for Sunday. Isolated t-storms are on track to continue developing in the afternoon tomorrow for parts of Inyo, Esmeralda, and central Nye counties.
