The midfielder made 47 appearances for City during her two seasons at the Club, adding 14 goals and six assists in the process. Roord initially signed for City in the summer of 2023, our only new recruit ahead of the campaign. She arrived at the Joie Stadium from VfL Wolfsburg, who she’d helped to the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in the previous season.

The story so farThe Blues have progressed to the semi-finals alongside Bayern Munich in Group 1 having finished as runners-up behind the German champions. We began with a 4-0 win over Swedish champions FC Rosengard in the tournament opener, before securing a dramatic sudden death penalty shootout victory over Ajax. A 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich meant we had to settle for second spot, but we still made the last four, where we’ll face Group 2 winners, Manchester United.

They then lock horns with Senegal in a friendly at the City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest, on Tuesday 10 June at 19:45. England have won each of their first two World Cup qualifiers in European Group K, beating Albania 2-0 and Latvia 3-0 back in March.
