SEATTLE — Exploring tide pools or looking for marine life? Tides are dipping down this week on Puget Sound waterways. Tuesday's low tide, at 12:42 p.m., will dip -3.44 below what's called Mean Lower Low Water level (MLLW) -- that's the average of the lower of the two diurnal, or daily low tide levels, throughout the year.

There is a chance the northern lights will be visible in western Washington Wednesday night into Thursday morning due to a strong geomagnetic storm. NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center issued a Geomagnetic Storm Watch Tuesday morning and was extended Wednesday as the storm continues to pass over Earth.

A strong Geomagnetic Storm Watch was issued Tuesday morning by NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center, which means there's a chance to see the aurora borealis across western Washington Tuesday night. The storm's multiple eruptions of highly charged solar plasma and magnetic field, each a coronal mass ejection (CME), emitted from the sun on Sunday and arrives and impacts the Earth's upper atmosphere tonight into tomorrow.
