Emergency services have closed Myrtle Road after a fire broke at home on Wednesday evening. Pictures taken at the scene show a cordon has been erected at the scene while fire crews deal with the incident.

Two boys were robbed of an electric scooter (Image: File pic) Two boys were left "shaken" after a tea-time robbery saw the pair attacked by a gang of older boys and their electric scooter stolen. Police say the 11 and 12-year-old friends were left shaken after the incident which happened on the “Black Path” between Caithness Road and Flatts Lane in Normanby.

Fire crews and police flooded Lilburne Crescent, in Newton Aycliffe, on Wednesday night after a blaze broke out at a new-build type property. Pictures taken at the scene on Thursday morning show shattered windows and smoke damage to the downstairs of the home.

A man who was filmed urinating in an alleyway after being caught short has narrowly avoided prison. Selvaratnam Nallathamby, 55, was videoed by a woman urinating near his Netherfields home on the afternoon of July 23, last year. Teesside Crown Court heard that Nallathamby, who suffers from diabetes, was originally believed to be performing a sex act but claimed he was urinating. He told cops it was an "emergency" and said his diabetes medication affects his bladder.

A man from North Yorkshire died after being trapped by metal railings in a shipping container. Gary Lee James, from Ida Road, Middlesbrough, was working a morning shift on January 8, 2019 when disaster struck. The forklift driver for haulage firm Ward Brothers, in South Bank, was inside a shipping container when he become trapped "by the neck" under metal railings/framework weighing approximately 150kg.

A pair of "possessed" Bulldogs escaped from a mum's yard and ravaged an elderly mutt as if he were a "toy" before biting a neighbour, a court heard. Nicola Local's two Olde Tyme Bulldogs, Darren and Betty, escaped from her back yard on January 11, last year and mauled a 10-year-old pooch as well as biting a woman's hand. The Bulldogs - who are aged one and three - were described as being "possessed" as they bit and ragged the senior dog about like a "toy".

A coroner is calling for action after a forklift driver suffered fatal injuries when he became trapped by metal railings at a Teesside haulage firm. The senior coroner for Teesside Clare Bailey, has issued a prevention of future deaths report (PFD) following the tragic passing of Gary Lee James. The forklift driver was employed by Ward Brothers, in South Bank, when he became pinned down by framework in a shipping container on January 8, 2019.
