A blind man has hit out at cuts to the services that has helped him lead a normal life. Connor Scott-Gardner, 31, from Leeds, was born blind but has enjoyed a full education - including getting two degrees - thanks to reading braille. He was reliant upon a service offered by the Royal National Institute of Blind People which paid for free transcription of texts for seeing people into Braille, audio or large print.

Tributes have poured in through a fundraising appeal set by a devoted friend of a groom-to-be who died from a suspected stroke in Benidorm. Oliver Holroyd from Halifax was on his stag do in Benidorm on March 22 - weeks before getting married to his love of his life Paige Whiteley - when he sadly he fell off a stool at Funky Flamingo bar and hit his head on the ground, which led to him losing consciousness.

A 18-year-old man and 15-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a woman died following a hit-and-run. Officers say a burgundy Mazda 5 TS2 was travelling towards Halifax around 1am this morning (Tuesday, April 15) when it hit a woman close to the Flying Pig pub, Crag Lane in Wheatley. The pair of teenage suspects had failed to stop at the scene but were later located nearby.

Officers from the Barnsley North East Neighbourhood Policing Team have made 30 arrests and seized over £510,000 worth of drugs in the last six months in their bid to 'clamp down' on drug-related crime.
