Brian Flanagan has made four changes to the team that started last day out against Tipperary for Sunday’s Tailteann Cup table topping clash against Sligo in the Hyde Park, Roscommon. Mick O’Grady, who was replaced at half time during that win over Tipperary after picking up a knock, doesn’t make the matchday squad and his place at wing back is taken by James McGrath.

In the end, Down were smiling too as Westmeath's win over Kerry means they avoid relegation to the Christy Ring Cup for next year but it’s Kildare who go marching on as they extend their season by at least two more games.

The smile on his face after the final whistle in Brewster Park told it’s own story. “I'm a fierce proud Carlow man. If I can add anything to the development of Carlow football, I'm very honured to do that. To stand with these guys today and see them get a really good win in a tough environment, I'm very proud at the moment,” said Murphy.

Unbelievable result for Kildare’s hurlers, one of the best wins in the history of Kildare hurling, certainly since the 2014 Christy Ring final win when it was the second tier competition

RIP to the great Micko and condolences to his family. Now that St Conleths has been redeveloped, there really should be a permanent reminder of the incredible days he brought to the county, whether that be a statue or naming a lounge or stand after him, it would be fully deserved
